LC-MS QToF,also known as one of-igh Resolution Mass Spectrometry (HRMS) instrumentation technology, provides accurate mass measurement results. Thanks to this capability, LC-MS QToF can offermore comprehensive information regarding the exact molecular mass, elemental composition, and detailed molecular structure of a particular compound.
LC MS QToF Principle
The analytes/compounds in the prepared samples are first separated by liquid chromatography (LC) using a chromatography separation column and then passed into a Quadrupole Time-of-Flight (QToF) mass spectrometer system, which combines the ion selection properties of a quadrupole (Q) with Time-of-Flight (ToF) mass analysis. This system offers both mass resolution and high accuracy in one system. The mass to charge ratio (m/z) of an ion is determined by measuring the flight time of an ion accelerated by an electric field of known strength over a known distance. Heavier ions move slower than lighter ions.
