Residual solvent was a volatile organic compound that remained in finished products which have the potential to risk the health and do not have a beneficial function. These compounds are used as auxiliary material, generally as an extraction solvent, in the production process. In Indonesia, BPOM regulates residual solvent as an auxiliary material for the extracting solvent in BPOM Regulation No. 20/2020. In addition, a residual solvent may also come from cross-contamination or migration from product packaging.
