Extracted Heavy Metal
Heavy metals such as cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), lead (Pb), and nickel (Ni) are widely used for the production of dyes or pigments for textiles. Heavy metals in textiles problems arise because small amounts of complex metals can be extracted from the cloth with a sweat solution. In contrast, in its use, direct contact between the fabric and the skin is unavoidable. The toxic effects of heavy metals on humans are well known. Therefore, the determination of migration of heavy metals from textiles needs to be carried out because it harms health.
How SIG can help
SIG laboratory performs extracted heavy metals analysis in textile matrices and textile toys based on SNI 7334:2009 method.
Extracted heavy metals that can be tested:
- Cd
- Cu
- Pb
- Ni
Method of Analysis
We use the ICP-MS method to measure the levels of heavy metals extracted from fabric samples / specimens.
